Teacher feels ‘violated’ after she says student sent AI-made nude images of her for months

A university graduate received dozens of sexually explicit messages on Instagram, including AI-generated nude images, and threats of rape by one of her students during her practicum placement in Winnipeg’s River East Transcona School Division.
The harassment started shortly after she began her work placement and included both fabricated images and disturbing threats.
The teacher filed a police report, but the harassment persisted, causing her significant emotional distress and leading her to deactivate social media for two weeks.
Police eventually arrested a 17-year-old student connected to the harassment, charging him with multiple offenses.
The teacher felt the discipline the school implemented was insufficient, emphasizing the need for schools to handle violence against teachers more seriously.
