Anthropic hires Orange’s AI chief Steve Jarrett

Anthropic has hired Steve Jarrett as its new Chief AI Officer, a role he will assume on August 25 after leaving his previous position at Orange.
Jarrett, based in Paris, will focus on tailoring Anthropic’s AI products to meet the needs of customers across Europe and Africa.
As part of Orange, Jarrett held the roles of Chief AI Officer and Chief Data Officer, where he led AI, data engineering, and technology partnerships across Orange’s 26-country footprint.
Jarrett’s contributions at Orange included spearheading AI adoption efforts that now utilize internal tools across 90% of Orange’s 130,000 employees, generating over €300 million in value from data and AI in 2025.
Jarrett brings extensive industry experience to Anthropic, having previously held leadership roles at notable companies such as Facebook, Yahoo, Microsoft, Apple, and Audible, focusing on fields like mobile computing, internet infrastructure, and AI.
