The Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) will host a formation webinar on June 23 for bishops, religious superiors, and senior ecclesial leaders about navigating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Church.
-
The webinar, titled “Magnifica Humanitas: Leading the Church in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” draws inspiration from Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical related to safeguarding humanity amid AI advances.
-
The session, moderated by Fr. Andrew Kaufa, aims to provide theological and pastoral clarity on AI, framing it as an opportunity rather than a threat.
-
Topics of discussion will include practical understanding of AI, critical analysis of transhumanism, theological reflection on human dignity and machine intelligence, and the Holy Father’s calls for AI policy frameworks.
-
The webinar will feature Bishop Emmanuel Badejo of Oyo Diocese in Nigeria as the keynote speaker, along with a panel of scholars and Church communicators.
-
The session will run from 4:00–6:00 p.m. EAT / 3:00–5:00 p.m. CAT, accessible via Zoom.
