The announcement comes just under five years after Kurz withdrew from politics and less than four years since the firm was started. “We are still a young business, but we are extremely grateful that everything is going in the right direction and that we are growing rapidly,” Kurz, 39, said. The central question for states was no longer whether to use artificial intelligence (AI), but rather whether they owned, operated and completely controlled it, he said. Otherwise they would find themselves critically dependent on countries such as China or the United States. Dream sees itself as a leading AI provider for countries and critical infrastructure. It currently employs a staff of 350 in Vienna, Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv, with the number doubling over the past year. Kurz stepped down as head of a coalition government in response to a corruption investigation in 2021. He has denied the allegations. He subsequently resigned as head of the conservative Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) and withdrew from politics completely. Observers believe he intends to return to politics.
