Google Cloud announced the introduction of the Google Security Operations Platform (SecOps) at its Seoul data center.
The platform is a cloud-based, integrated security solution that merges Google’s global threat intelligence with advanced AI to automate detection, investigation, and response tasks for corporate security teams. The AI component rapidly identifies potential cyberattacks, prioritizes critical threats, and organizes essential information to improve operational efficiency.
Domestic corporations are able to utilize the platform without transferring security data to servers located outside the country. This feature is particularly significant for financial and public institutions that manage sensitive information, for which data storage location is a critical concern. By providing services based in Seoul, Google Cloud seeks to reduce regulatory burdens and facilitate the transition to cloud-based security.
Jagdish Mahapatra, Managing Director, Google Cloud Security, JAPAC, said:
The launch of Google Security Operations in our Seoul Region is a pivotal moment for cybersecurity in Korea. We are delivering Google’s unmatched AI innovation and threat observatory directly to Korean organizations while meeting data sovereignty requirements. We’re not just reacting to threats; we’re enabling proactive cyber defense at unparalleled speed that can reduce investigation times from 30 minutes to just one. This is how we empower organizations to secure their future against evolving threats.
Google Cloud’s strategy involves leveraging AI to transform traditional security operations centers (SOC). Previously, human operators managed all monitoring and intervention activities. With the new platform, AI agents will perform repetitive tasks, while personnel will oversee and make final decisions.
The Google Security Operations Platform analyzes security data from endpoints, networks, and browsers in real time. Utilizing Gemini-based AI agents, the platform identifies probable threats and automatically recommends investigation and response actions, thereby increasing operational efficiency.
Google Cloud plans to strengthen partnerships with domestic firms such as Bespin Global, LG CNS, and Megazone Cloud to promote adoption of the Google Security Operations Platform. By leveraging each partner’s customer networks and infrastructure expertise, the initiative aims to assist corporations in implementing AI-based security systems. The launch in Seoul also aligns with recent regulatory changes that ease network separation rules, which is expected to accelerate adoption, particularly within the financial sector.
Mahapatra concluded that building the Security Operations Platform in the Seoul region will be a new inflection point for Korea’s cybersecurity, and will help domestic corporations and institutions fully comply with regulatory guidelines while equipping them with world-class AI defense systems.
