Edmonton teens charged with using AI to create sexually exploitative images of classmates

Two 14-year-old boys from Edmonton have been charged for allegedly using AI to create and distribute child exploitation images of their classmates.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) revealed the students used images from school and social media to create sexually abusive content without consent.
The accused have been charged with making and possessing child sexual exploitation materials and voyeurism.
Authorities initiated the investigation in March after receiving complaints from students and teachers.
Investigators are working with multiple agencies, including the Saffron Centre, to support the victims.
The number of victims identified so far is believed to be in double digits.
