ATU Alumna Earns Acclaim at International Conference

Shruti Bhandari, a 2026 graduate of Arkansas Tech University, won two best presenter awards at the IEEE World Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things Congress held in Seattle.
Bhandari’s recognized research projects include “Multimodal Neuromorphic Computing for Cancer Diagnosis” and “The Advanced Health Risk Predictor.”
Her research focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance patient care, specifically in disease prediction, clinical decision support, and cancer diagnostics.
Bhandari is a native of Dharan, Nepal, and had four papers accepted at the conference, being the first author on three of them.
Her attendance was supported by the Arkansas IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) Travel Awards, which granted her funding for travel and conference costs.
Bhandari expressed profound gratitude for her recognition, seeing it as affirmation of her hard work and growth at Arkansas Tech University.
She received the 2026 ATU graduate student of the year award and was named to Who’s Who at Arkansas Tech for 2026.
Bhandari plans to pursue a career in data science and machine learning related to health applications post her master’s degree in information technology.
