Deezer launches free AI music detector for users of major streaming platforms

Deezer, a French music streaming platform, has introduced a free tool to identify AI-generated tracks in playlists across major streaming platforms.
The tool is available to users of approximately 20 commonly used streaming services, enabling them to scan their playlists for synthetic music.
Deezer also licenses its AI-detection technology to the wider music industry and has previously partnered with France’s royalty agency, Sacem.
Around 43% of Deezer users transitioning from rival services already have AI-generated music in their playlists.
Deezer automatically removes AI-generated songs from its algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists to prevent dilution of royalty pools.
A 2024 Cisac study indicates that AI-generated music poses a potential risk of siphoning off €4 billion ($4.6 billion) or 25% of artists’ revenue by 2028.
Deezer receives nearly 75,000 AI-generated tracks daily, constituting more than 44% of its daily new music delivery.
A Deezer-Ipsos survey found that 80% of respondents want AI-generated music clearly labelled on streaming platforms.
