Artificial intelligence use widespread among young students, survey shows

AI Usage Among Children: Approximately 92 percent of children aged six to 15 in Taiwan use artificial intelligence (AI) with 20 percent using it daily or almost daily.
Preference for AI Over Social Interaction: 53 percent of the children are happier using AI for activities like games and watching content online rather than socializing in person.
Isolation and Lack of Support: The survey found increasing isolation among children; 36 percent have not gone out with friends in a month, 29 percent feel unsupported by anyone, and 24 percent report no one to rely on.
Help Seeking Behavior: When facing sadness or secrets, children prefer talking to real-life friends over parents or teachers, with chatbots being the least favored option.
Growing Stress and Discontent: The survey highlighted that stress and dissatisfaction with school are increasing; 47 percent report high stress levels and 43 percent dislike school currently.
Exam Anxiety: Exam-related anxiety is rising, with younger students (as young as fifth grade) also experiencing significant exam fears (29 percent of fifth graders, 64 percent of ninth graders reported such fears).
