On June 2, 2026, members of the Johnston Community College Cybersecurity Competition
Team (CCT) competed in the MetLife Summer Cyber Invitational Live Fire Exercise. The
event was held at the MetLife Global Technology Campus in Cary, North Carolina.
The invitational challenges participants with a simulated cyberattack that requires
the teams to identify, analyze, contain, and restore operations. It was the very first
competition appearance for the JCC team, and they showed up ready to win.
Team manager Todd Retzlaff holds Associate’s degrees in both IT and Cybersecurity
from JCC. Under his leadership, the Jaguars swept the top two positions. Flynn Loomis
and Jhordan Sargeant complete the team, and are both recent JCC graduates and Cybersecurity
interns. Flynn claimed first place and Jhordan took home second place. They displayed
outstanding skill and teamwork, which led the team to victory.
Sweeping the top two positions in their first competitive appearance, the Jaguars
proved that JCC’s program is producing top-tier talent. Flynn, Jhordan, and Todd reflected
the excellence that defines JCC’s Cybersecurity program.
