Maryland Governor Wes Moore has launched an AI Innovation Lab to help state agencies adopt and experiment with artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The lab, situated within the Department of Information Technology, will offer a secure sandbox environment, pre-built software packages for rapid development, and a comprehensive tech stack for chatbots.
Key features include AI architecture sessions, the state’s first AI red-teaming service for security testing, and hands-on training provided by a team of AI-expert state employees.
Led by Pat McLoughlin, the lab aims to support the Governor’s Modernization Initiative and adhere to Maryland’s Responsible AI Policy, ensuring responsible AI use.
It will also build on the state’s partnership with Anthropic to address issues like child poverty, housing access, and process streamlining.
Governor Moore emphasized the lab’s role in making the state government more efficient and in delivering innovative solutions to Maryland residents.
