Opinion | Bernie Sanders: A.I. Belongs to the People, Not to Billionaires

Artificial intelligence (A.I.) is poised to be the most transformational technology in history, affecting every aspect of human life including the economy, democracy, education, emotional well-being, and environmental issues.
There is a looming fear that A.I. could become smarter than humans and operate independently, leading to potentially catastrophic consequences.
The pivotal question about A.I. is not whether it will change the world, but who will own and control that future: the common people or a few wealthy tech oligarchs.
A.I. technologies are developed from and fed by the collective intelligence and creative contributions of millions of individuals, often without their consent or compensation.
There is an urgent need to reclaim the collective intellectual property and influence over the future direction of A.I. to ensure that it benefits society as a whole and not just a select few.
