AI predicts NBA Draft landing spot for UConn’s Alex Karaban

USA Today published a 2026 NBA mock draft generated by Microsoft’s Copilot’s AI chatbot.
The AI forecast predicts Alex Karaban to be selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the No. 29 overall pick in the first round of the NBA Draft.
Karaban, known for his high-octane shooting and decision-making at UConn, is described by the AI as a “plug-and-play forward who complements Harden/Mitchell without needing usage.”
Although ESPN’s mock draft predicted Karaban as an early second-round pick, the AI-generated projection boosted him into the first round.
Unlike Karaban, Tarris Reed Jr., Karaban’s co-star from UConn, was omitted from the AI draft’s top 30 selections, unlike ESPN’s projections that graded him for a first-round spot.
