STC graduate helps shape AI future in manufacturing

Leal entered a one-year Mechatronics and Robotics certificate program at STC because she found its offerings interesting and it seemed like a promising opportunity.
Leal’s project focused on predictive maintenance for electric motors, using AI that analyzed data such as temperature, torque, RPMs, and noise levels to predict equipment failures.
The project culminated in a mobile app that gathered data to train the AI model for real-time predictive maintenance predictions.

The success of the project demonstrated that applied AI could greatly enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and support preventative maintenance, encouraging more industry collaboration with STC students.
