Mayo Clinic and Bayesian Health developed an AI solution to identify hospitalized patients in need of palliative care earlier.
The AI tool is designed to facilitate timely consultations, thus improving care for patients with serious illnesses and reducing non-beneficial readmissions.
In clinical trials, the tool was shown to increase timely palliative care referrals by 44%, and reduce 60-day and 90-day readmissions by 25% and 28% respectively, also enhancing patient quality of life.
This collaboration represents a pioneering effort by Mayo Clinic to incorporate AI throughout the care process, aiding teams in identifying and addressing unmet patient needs.
Bayesian Health’s platform provides real-time clinical intelligence that shifts the care approach from reactive to proactive, especially in palliative care and provides continuous learning from clinician feedback and patient data.
