Google Introduces Googlebook Laptop Platform Featuring Gemini Intelligence

Google announced the launch of Googlebooks on May 12, 2026, featuring laptops designed for its Gemini Intelligence system.
These devices will run on an Android technology stack, introducing an AI-driven proactive experience to replace the traditional Chromebook model.
Major manufacturers like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo are collaborating with Google to produce these new laptops.
Each Googlebook will include a unique “glowbar” to serve as both functional and aesthetic branding features for the platform.
The Magic Pointer tool, developed with Google DeepMind, enables contextual AI suggestions for users, allowing them to perform tasks like scheduling meetings or visualizing rooms with on-screen gestures.
Peter Du from Google clarified that the OS is not branded as “Aluminium,” and more details about the OS branding will be disclosed later in the year.
Googlebooks will allow running Android applications and seamless access to mobile files via a Quick Access feature, with custom widgets generated through AI prompts.
Existing Chromebooks will continue to receive support, and post-Googlebooks launches, there will still be new Chromebook releases to maintain consumer confidence.
