DOJ says it might help Musk in lawsuit over AI pollution

The federal government is thinking about getting involved in a lawsuit against Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI.
The NAACP and Southern Environmental Law Center sued xAI for running 27 natural gas turbines at a data center in Southaven, Mississippi, without needed pollution controls or permits.
These groups asked the court to stop the pollution from the big generators, called tractors.
The Department of Justice is looking at possibly joining the lawsuit or supporting xAI in the case.
It’s important because it deals with big ideas about artificial intelligence and the government wants to support technology to keep the U.S. competitive and safe.
