Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt faced a hostile reception from students at the University of Arizona’s graduation, drawing boos due to backlash over his selection as commencement speaker amidst allegations of sexual harassment by his former girlfriend Michelle Ritter.
Multiple left-wing and feminist student groups protested Schmidt’s selection, distributing flyers outlining the allegations, urging students to either turn their backs on the stage or boo his speech to show disapproval.
Ritter, a 31-year-old tech entrepreneur and Schmidt’s former business partner, has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against him, claims which Schmidt denies.
