ICAI to embed AI, data analytics in CA curriculum

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) plans to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and other emerging subjects into its curriculum to adapt to technological and professional changes.
ICAI President Prasanna Kumar D emphasized that AI is essential for future chartered accountants, suggesting it should be integrated into the existing curriculum, not as a separate subject.
The institute has established the Committee for Review of Education and Training (CRET) to assess updates necessary for the curriculum, practical training, soft skills and communication, and assessment methods.
The CRET’s recommendations are expected to be finalized in the coming months, with updates in the CA curriculum anticipated to be implemented starting in 2028.
The ICAI aims to align its education and training system with evolving technological advancements, including non-financial reporting, ESG disclosures, AI, data analytics, and forensic auditing.
