Google unveils plans for AI-focused laptops called Googlebooks

Google is introducing a new category of AI-powered laptops called “Googlebooks,” following up on its Chromebook line.
The new laptops will leverage Gemini, Google’s AI platform, to combine Android and ChromeOS elements for a unique laptop experience.
Key features include “Magic Pointer,” an AI-driven cursor that provides contextual suggestions and can perform tasks such as creating calendar events from email dates.
Googlebooks will offer AI-generated widgets that create customized dashboards with information from apps like Gmail and Calendar.
The laptops will allow Android apps to be run through Google Play, while also utilizing Chrome for web browsing and providing a feature called Quick Access to enable file and app access from Android phones.
Google is collaborating with Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to bring the first Googlebooks to market later this year; pricing, specs, and exact release dates will be revealed later in the fall.
