The announcement follows Anthropic’s release of its own AI model, Mythos, about a month ago, a development that raised concerns about possible cyberattacks targeting critical software infrastructure, according to Reuters.
Anthropic, however, has not yet provided the European Union with preview access to Mythos. Regnier said the Commission remains in contact with the company, though discussions are progressing differently than those with OpenAI, per Reuters.
“With one (OpenAI), you have a company proactively offering to give access to the company. With the other one (Anthropic), we have good exchanges though we’re not at a stage where we can speculate on potential access or not”, Regnier said during a daily press briefing.
Regnier added that the Commission has held “four or five” meetings with Anthropic so far, but discussions have not yet reached the point of concrete proposals on access to its AI models.
