Apple Agrees to 250 Million Settlement Over iPhone AI Ads

Apple agreed to a $250 million settlement on May 5, 2026, addressing allegations that it misled consumers regarding AI features for iPhone 16 and specific iPhone 15 Pro models.
The lawsuit, filed in March 2025, claimed Apple advertised “Apple Intelligence” and an advanced Siri during the September 2024 launch, although these features were not yet available.
Eligible consumers who purchased an iPhone 16 or iPhone 15 Pro device between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, could receive payments ranging from $25 to $95 per device.
Apple denied all allegations of wrongdoing but chose to settle to focus on delivering future AI advancements, as stated in their official statement.
The settlement covers specific iPhone models equipped to run the new software updates, including the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the entire iPhone 16 lineup.
Claimants will be notified within 45 days of final court approval, which is scheduled for June 17, 2026, and have 90 days to submit their claims.
Payments are expected to start within 60 days after the final settlement details are approved and will likely commence after September 2026. The total payout amount may adjust based on the number of claims submitted.
