UA Among National Leaders with AI-Readiness Initiative Launch

The University of Alabama plans to launch the UA AI Experience in Fall 2026, making it one of the first higher education institutions to provide comprehensive AI training.
The interactive curriculum aims to ensure faculty, staff, and students develop AI expertise, understand ethical usage, create effective prompting strategies, protect data privacy, and build future-ready skills.
Dr. Claire Major emphasized the university’s commitment to responsible AI engagement and establishing a shared vocabulary for its campus community.
The course will be entirely online, flexible to accommodate busy schedules, and takes merely three hours to complete across five modules.
The course will initially launch with a pilot version in Summer 2026, to gather feedback and refine before the full launch in Fall 2026, with automatic enrollment for all students starting from this semester.
The platform will be hosted on Blackboard, with faculty and staff required to register individually. It will be offered each semester.
