University Council approves AI certificate, new minors at monthly meeting

The University Council approved six new minors and certificate programs, including an Undergraduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence for Pharmaceutical Sciences, with no opposition.
The graduate certificate in educational leadership tier I was terminated on the Athens campus.
UGA’s School of Medicine received preliminary accreditation and has initiated recruitment for its first class.
UGA has raised $52.4 million for graduate and professional student scholarships and fellowships over the past three years.
The fiscal year 2026 budget allocated over $11 million for UGA’s new School of Medicine and $5.6 million for a new School of Nursing building.
The Student Government Association discussed the integration of generative AI into educational programs to enhance AI literacy and address associated risks and opportunities.
The next University Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15 at 3:30 p.m. in the Tate Theater.
