Seven colleges join CT’s next AI workforce initiative

Connecticut is expanding artificial intelligence (AI) training at colleges and universities through the third phase of the statewide workforce program called Tech Talent Accelerator (TTA) 3.0.
The program aims to prepare students and workers for fast-growing tech jobs, with a significant focus on AI skills due to the increasing demand driven by employers across various industries.
TTA 3.0 will fund AI training at seven public and private colleges in partnership with 12 business partners.
The expansion includes introducing AI content into existing programs or launching new credentials tailored for fields ranging from healthcare to cybersecurity, and is designed to provide practical experience through industry-linked projects.
The push for AI training comes amid rising demand; state labor data show a 40% increase in job postings listing AI skills since August 2024, with one in 52 job postings now seeking AI expertise.
Future plans include a second round of grants mid-2026 to expand the initiative based on the pilot’s outcomes and shape new programs to strengthen the talent pipeline for an AI-driven economy.
