Ben-Gurion University professor recommended for UN global panel on artificial intelli

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev congratulates Prof. Lior Rokach for his appointment to the United Nations’ newly established Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Prof. Rokach was recommended by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and is the only Israeli representative out of 40 selected globally from a competitive pool of over 2,600 candidates.
The AI panel aims to evaluate how artificial intelligence is impacting societies worldwide and will act as a global “early warning system” for new AI developments and associated risks.
Prof. Rokach joins an illustrious group including Prof. Yoshua Bengio, known as one of the “Fathers of Deep Learning,” and Nobel Peace Prize winner Prof. Maria Ressa.
The panel’s mission is to provide unbiased scientific assessments to help international decision-makers evaluate the opportunities and risks of AI, and to inform global research communities with annual position papers on AI.
