- Ben-Gurion University of the Negev congratulates Prof. Lior Rokach for his appointment to the United Nations’ newly established Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Prof. Rokach was recommended by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and is the only Israeli representative out of 40 selected globally from a competitive pool of over 2,600 candidates.
- The AI panel aims to evaluate how artificial intelligence is impacting societies worldwide and will act as a global “early warning system” for new AI developments and associated risks.
- Prof. Rokach joins an illustrious group including Prof. Yoshua Bengio, known as one of the “Fathers of Deep Learning,” and Nobel Peace Prize winner Prof. Maria Ressa.
- The panel’s mission is to provide unbiased scientific assessments to help international decision-makers evaluate the opportunities and risks of AI, and to inform global research communities with annual position papers on AI.
