UMKC launches Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence degree

Pending final approval, UMKC plans to launch a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence degree this fall.

The degree program will utilize UMKC’s status as a Carnegie Research 1 institution to enhance research capabilities and industry partnerships.
The program aligns with UMKC’s strategic focus on AI-driven innovation in areas such as healthcare, cybersecurity, and intelligent systems.
UMKC aims to prepare the next generation of AI professionals, as indicated by Chancellor Mauli Agrawal in his October 2025 State of the University address.
The university is also in early planning stages for a Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence degree.
Final approval for the master’s program is pending from the Missouri Department of Higher Education and the Higher Learning Commission.
