UW System president says AI can help move Wisconsin forward

Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman emphasizes that artificial intelligence (AI) is now directly influencing how public universities in the state operate.
Rothman stresses the importance of AI literacy and the development of essential skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving, as part of preparing students for the future.
Ahead of a Board of Regents meeting, the UW System will discuss AI’s role in higher education, including its use in classrooms and partnerships with business.
Several UW campuses are launching AI-related programs and majors, reflecting a broader institutional commitment to AI education and innovation. Notable initiatives include the new College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence at UW-Madison, and new AI programs at UW-Whitewater, UW-Eau Claire, Carroll University, and the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
