AI pioneer Yann LeCun joins Nexar board as mobility artificial intelligence scales

Israeli startup Nexar, specializing in AI-powered mobility solutions, announced that Yann LeCun has joined its Board of Directors.
LeCun, a professor at New York University and former chief AI scientist at Meta, is a renowned pioneer in deep learning and convolutional neural networks.
LeCun received the 2018 Turing Award for his contributions to AI, alongside Yoshua Bengio and Geoffrey Hinton.
Recently, LeCun has been critical of the overemphasis on large language models (LLMs), arguing that they may fall short in achieving “superintelligence” in real-world applications.
LeCun left Meta in November 2025 to launch Advanced Machine Intelligence, a new venture aiming to develop AI systems based on real-world understanding.
At Nexar, LeCun will advise on the company’s BADAS platform, which uses real-world driving video data to provide predictive intelligence for autonomous and connected vehicles.
Nexar’s BADAS platform transforms ordinary vehicles into vision sensors, collecting diverse driving data to support the development of AI “world models.”
Zach Greenberger, CEO of Nexar, emphasized that LeCun’s insights align with Nexar’s mission of providing real-world data necessary for AI to build reliable models.
