Partly AI-generated folk-pop hit barred from Sweden’s official charts | AI (artificial intelligence)

An AI-generated song by the singer Jacub titled “I know, you’re not mine” topped Spotify’s charts in Sweden but was excluded from Sweden’s official chart, Sverigetopplistan.
The exclusion was enforced by IFPI Sweden, which stated that AI-generated songs do not qualify for the official chart under prevailing rules.
Jacub’s song has been streamed over 5 million times globally, including 200,000 streams in Sweden, and is part of a six-track EP called Kärleken är Bränd.
The revelation that Jacub’s music, including Jacub’s voice, was AI generated was brought to light by investigative journalist Emanuel Karlsten.
The Danish music publisher Stellar, representing Jacub, stressed their commitment to creative music professionals behind the song and their dedication to an artistic vision, and also rejected the label of “AI music slop”.
Spotify has not excluded the song from its own charts and has not required the labelling of AI-generated music, but has proposed a new industry standard for AI disclosure backed by DDEX.
The success of the AI-generated song underlines the necessity for mandatory AI labelling, to protect artists’ royalties and copyright.
