The Dispatch prioritizes trust in its journalists’ expertise and will not risk it using AI-generated content for marginal efficiency unless it augments human judgment.
Four core principles are established for AI use: humans own the output, AI assists but does not replace thinking, AI output is treated as unvetted material, and when in doubt, consult the editor.
Prohibited uses of AI include generating publishable content, outsourcing critical thinking, using AI for structuring or organizing thoughts, and publishing AI-generated images as reality.
Freelance contributors are also bound by these guidelines and must obtain approval from their assigning editor before using AI for commissioned work.
