The U.S. Navy announced the second demonstration to advance AI-enabled autonomy and multi-platform coordination for future Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA).
-
The demonstration took place on December 11 at the Point Mugu Sea Range in California and focused on manned-unmanned teaming concepts to extend carrier air wings’ reach.
-
Naval Air Systems Command program offices Aerial Targets (PMA-208) and Strike Planning and Execution Systems (PMA-281) collaborated with industry partners Shield AI, Kratos, and CTSI.
-
During the exercise, two BQM-177A subsonic aerial targets flew autonomously using Shield AI’s Hivemind software, connected to a Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) environment that included a virtual F/A-18 and two simulated adversary aircraft.
-
The event furthered the implementation of Autonomy Government Reference Architecture (A-GRA) interfaces aimed at enhancing interoperability and mission autonomy integration for future unmanned platforms.
