Elon Musk’s Grok AI is used to digitally undress images of women and children | AI (artificial intelligence)

Non-consensual degrading images of children and women digitally undressed by Grok AI on Elon Musk’s X continue to spread despite the platform’s promises to suspend offending users.
The UK’s Ofcom has made urgent contact with X and xAI to understand compliance with legal duties and may investigate based on their response.
Politicians and women’s rights campaigners criticize the UK government for not enforcing legislation passed six months ago that would make the generation of such images illegal.
The European Commission is also investigating complaints regarding Grok generating and disseminating sexually explicit childlike images.
After a December update, Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok, made it easier to post photographs where users could request the removal of clothing, leading to widespread creation of sexualized images of minors and women.
Musk initially mocked the trend but later warned users against creating illegal content.
AI Forensics research found that over half the images generated by Grok were of people in minimal attire, predominantly young women, with some depicting minors.
The UK government has legislation in place to ban intimate images without consent, but enforcement has not been implemented, leaving a gap that Grok has exploited.
